The following is a list of courses based on sample degree plan. Other requirements may be necessary to complete this degree.

Preparation for the Major

All courses must be taken and any degree course group requirements (if any) must be met.

Language Requirement

Required: Completion of the intermediate sequence in one Asian language offered by the department (e.g., Chinese 6, 10, Filipino 6, Hindi-Urdu 6, Indonesian 6, Japanese 6, 10, Korean 6, 10, Thai 6, Vietnamese 6, or equivalent) The equivalent of intermediate level (6, 6A, 10 or equivalent) in an Asian language through coursework or placement exam. Students may choose from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi-Urdu, Filipino, Indonesian, Thai or Vietnamese.

Major Requirements

Upper Division Language Courses

Three upper division language courses of the same Asian Language as the preparation from the following list.

Upper Division Asian Religion Courses

Select six upper division Asian religions courses within the department, including at least one course each concerning religions in China, Japan, Korea, and either South Asia or Southeast Asia.

All courses must be taken and any degree course group requirements (if any) must be met.
