To qualify for admission to the program, FIU undergraduates must have met all the lower division requirements including CLAS, completed 60  semester hours, and must be otherwise acceptable into the program.

Area Requirement Courses

All courses must be taken and any degree course group requirements (if any) must be met.

Required Psychology Course Electives

Any psychology course taken for a letter grade can be used to fulfill the requirement for electives. These courses must be upper level (3000 or 4000) courses. Students must have at least 36 credits hours in total of upper division hours for the psychology major.

9.0 Hrs. required.

Electives

At least 9 credit hours of upper division electives outside Psychology. The remaining 15 credit hours may be upper division Psychology electives. Students may, with the permission of the instructor, take PSY 4900, 4914, and PSY 4916, which are given Pass/Fail grades. These courses cannot count in the category of Required Psychology Electives, but they can be used as additional credit towards graduation. Please Note: (1) The student is strongly urged to contact the Psychology Department for advisement in curriculum planning; (2) Psychology majors are allowed to transfer a maximum of ten upper division semester credit hours toward the psychology degree.
