U.S. History and Political Science

POLS 206 and 207 and HIST 105 and 106 or other courses in American and Texas history, except those courses pertaining solely to Texas history may not comprise more than 3 hours.

All courses must be taken and any degree course group requirements (if any) must be met.

Humanities

Courses used to satisfy this requirement shall address one of the following subject areas: history, philosophy, literature, the arts, culture or language (exclusive of courses devoted predominantly to acquiring language skills in a student’s native language).  No student may satisfy all 12 hours of University Core Curriculum requirements in the categories of humanities, visual and performing arts, and social and behavioral Sciences by courses having the same prefix.

Electives

To be utilized by students to enhance the science and/or business aspects of their undergraduate program. Students may also use elective hours to complete the 6 hour foreign language graduation requirement if they have not completed this in high school. The University Core Curriculum includes a requirement for 6 hours of international and cultural diversity courses. Refer to the University Core Curriculum section for a list of acceptable courses (see University Core Curriculum, item 6). A course satisfying another Core category or a college/department requirement or used as a free elective can be used to satisfy these requirements.
