The following is a list of courses based on sample degree plan. Other requirements may be necessary to complete this degree.

Preparation for the Major

Required: Applied Linguistics 10 or 10W; twocourses from 20, 30 (or 30W), 40 (or 40W), Anthropology33, and Psychology 10; Linguistics20; and completion of the equivalent of thesixth term of one foreign language.Students who complete an advanced upper divisionlanguage course are considered to havecompleted the equivalent of whatever coursesare requisite to that advanced language course(e.g., if students complete German 152, theyhave automatically satisfied the requirement ofthe sixth term of work in German).

All courses must be taken and any degree course group requirements (if any) must be met.

Foreign Language

Completion of the equivalent of the sixth term of one foreign language.  Terms 1-3 are part of the university requirements.Students who complete an advanced upper division language course are considered to have completed the equivalent of whatever courses are requisite to that advanced language course (e.g., if students complete German 152, they have automatically satisfied the requirement of the sixth term of work in German).

Courses designated as both service learning and capstone courses may be applied toward both the service learning and capstone requirements. Service learning and capstone courses may not be taken during the freshman or sophomore year. No more than two courses from 195, 197, 198, and 199 may be applied toward the major.
