MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Yang. Very quiet, private teacher. After the first day I could understand his accent. Had the class at 8 PM-9:40 PM. Had not had Precal. for 29 years. He provided proofs for the theorems. His notes were detailed and aided in learning the subject. The tests reflected the class material covered. I did the homework, asked questions, which Dr. Yang gladly answered. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Very intelligent teacher! He definitely wants you to understand the material. We were allowed a cheat sheet for every test, including the final. He was very available for additional help. I definitely recommend him. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Mr. Yang makes sure you understand the material. He's a little difficult to understand at first, but you get used to it. There were four tests in the class which includes the final. I would absolutely take him again without question. Some people will probably write that he was too hard or something, but those are the people who did not go to class most of the time. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
I took him in summer 2008, Great professor, heavy accent but easy to get used to. 2 in class tests, 1 take home tests, and a cumulative final. For the Final, he takes 2/3 of the final exam grade or average of the three test, whichever is higher. Homework was not graded and attendance is extremely required for you to make an A in his class as it was a 4 hour class. He gives out a practice test a week before the actual test and goes over the answers. If you just do the practice test, and study well, the actual test is extremely similar. I would definitely take him again. I feel dumb because scored 91 on the first two tests while half the class aced it. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Mr. Yang is a good proffessor. He moves at a nice pace and makes sure no one is left behind. He also gives a practice test before each test and has a review day prior to the test. All the tests are open note, short and very similar to practice test. I recomend Mr. Yang. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
1) If you attend EVERY classroom session and stay awake, you will get an A.2) You will have a very, very good idea of what will be on his exams prior to taking them. BE ADVISED: He is looking for the correct METHOD in solving problems, not the right answer. A correct answer with improper method will get you about 0-10% credit for a problem...and there aren't many problems on his exams. Treat his exams as the most important thing in life...there are only 3 of them, and recovery from a poor grade is not very likely. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Professor Yang is a very understanding man if u missed an exam and had a good reason for it he let u make it up anytime u wanted. He writes everything down on the board so there will be a lot of note taking, also gives u study guides for his tests. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Mr. Hoover makes learning math extremely easy. He jokes around and always has a good since of humor. He tries to help his students as much as he can. If you don't understand something he doesn't mind it at all for you to pop in his office. I really recommend taking Mr. Hoover for this class! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
EXCELLENT professor!! He is very precise in his teaching and is willing to help in any way possible. There is homework due every class (it is usually two problems)that takes some people 10 minutes to complete, or in my case a trip to his office or the math lab (these grades help boost up your grade). There is 5 quizzes and 3 tests. If you bomb one of them, the final grade will replace it. He takes attendance and will replace one of your quiz grades with it. If you think you will struggle in calculus, take Mr. Hoover. He makes everyone feel appreciated and he is always in a great mood. I waited to get in his class and I am glad I did. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Mr. Hoover is an EXCELLENT professor! I went in to Calc I with having gotten a B in High School PreCalc and ended up with an A in his class. If you pay attention and do some of the homework then you will do very well. He creates a comfortable atmosphere that is easy to learn in. Absolutely great! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Amazing personality! Very helpful. 4 exams and a final which are tough but not impossible. The class did bad on one so he let us makeup problems to earn a few pts back. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Awesome professor, very personable and makes a Calculus lecture about as interesting and engaging as is possible. Makes sure students are prepared for tests & quizzes with practice tests, practice quizzes, recommended problems from text and review sessions. Also give homework and easier projects to act as a grade buffer. Does not drop lowest test score but does do a weighted replacement with the final. |

Great teacher is very helpful. He tells you what is going to be on the test the class before. He is always willing to answer your questions. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
He is a very good teacher. He is very knowledgable in math. He has 4 tests and then a final. He doesn't require you to do the homework, however, he puts homework problems on the test so it helps if you do the homework. He explains everything very well. He is willing to help you if you don't understand. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Wang explains the material in detail and makes sure that we understand the application of calculus and not just the memorization of formulas. He goes over any trig or precalc that we may have forgotten before going strait into calculus and makes sure to go slow enough for everyone to understand. He encourages us to ask questions, and he's always available to answer our questions. A word of advice: if you have a question then ask it, no matter how dumb you think it is. Asking an obvious question is not as bad as failing, and Dr. Wang will always answer your questions. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Good teacher. He knows what he is talking about. Works with you, there are no stupid questions to him |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Wang did an excellent job of explaining the material, as well as providing any necessary help you required. He did review sessions before every test and made sure that you fully understood, but you must ask questions if you have them! I would definitely recommend Dr. Wang for any math class. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR. His notes are indepth and his lectures are detailed. He goes over plenty of example problems in class. 2 tests, a final (cumulative), 4 quizzes and a group project. Dr. Laval cares deeply that his students learn and is the most helpful, approachable professor I have ever had. Responds to student emails in a timely, efficient manner. If you are working hard and are really trying to understand the material, he will try to help you as much as he humanly can. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Laval is a GREAT teacher. He exlpains everything really well and doesnt go on unless everyone understands. He is always available to help people out of class and even says that if people do not want to ask the questions in class to go see him at a later time. His tests I feel are very easy if you understand what we are doing in class. He is a great teacher and I would recomend him to everyone! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Outstanding professor! I wasn't looking forward to taking CalcI, having already tried and failed it 5 times (GSU and Ga. Perimeter). I spoke with him about this after the first class so he would know understanding the material would likely be difficult for me. His teaching style was a perfect match for how I learn, and I ended up getting a B in the class. Dr. Laval does have a French accent, but he is perfectly understandable. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
He is such a sweet person! He was EXTREMELY helpful and was always willing to meet you outside of class. The tests were kind of difficult but it's just because Calc is a hard course anyway. As long as you did the homework problems for practice and came to class you can still made a good grade. I really liked the class and the teacher. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Really good teacher, he was really funny and explained calculus in a way that I could understand. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Du is awesome. He is very nice and so tries to be funny. He had like 4-5 tests I think and multiple quizzes, most of them take home. He teaches the material well and really tries to make sure you understand it before he moves on. He doesn't seem very approachable but he really is, he's a really sweet guy and and he genuinely wants you succeed. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Professor Du is a wonderful teacher. He always trys to explain things in a way that everyone can comprehend. Most of his quizes are take home. His test are pretty good to. He can be really funny at times too. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
He is a wonderful professor. He has a very calm and patient way of teaching. He made sure to ask if anyone had questions before going on to the next topic. He allowed a class period before each test to review his in depth study guides. He never put anything on the tests that we had not covered in class. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
I LOVED HIM! He was very easy. I got an A with almost no effort. I came to class everyday, which is probably why I did so well. He gives quizzes that are almost exactly like the test will be. He was super sweet and helpful. TAKE HIM!!!! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Wonderful Professor. Very patient and open to helping you understand the material. Fair on testing and explanations. Take a couple days of class to get used to his accent and the rest of the course is very much interesting. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
He is the best math teacher ever!!! i fully recommend him to anyone!! he explains things really well and makes everything so much easier than it is. You can tell he really enjoys teaching and always answers every question and encourages to ask them. He doesn't take attendence, so that is always good especially if you're good at math you don't even have to go to even half the classes and still get an A. His tests are not hard at all they are short usually, and has about only 12 quesions with different parts. he pretty much gave us the final, he just changed up the numbers in the questions. The homework is easy, and the only required homework is the kind online that you can just redo and redo until you get it right, so that's really easy.. If you have the choice take this guy!!!! he's amazing!! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
good teacher-pretty easy and he will definitely help you out if you need it! during the test there is always a huge line of students waiting to ask him a question about any and every problem they have trouble with and he pretty much just gives the answer! he also always gives you any formula you might need for the test and usually extras (not to fool or trick you into using the wrong one, just to help you out). i took him for precal and calc and i would take him again if i didn't hate math so much, and i definitely recommend him to any and everyone! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Absolutely the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. He goes over absolutely everything very thoroughly and from several approaches. He always put any formulas that we would need on the board and would give us any other ones that we might need. This lets the student focus on the application instead of the formula because, let's face it, in a real application, you would have reference materials available. Half of every class was going over the homework and answering any and all questions that anyone had. He went over everything very slowly so that no one was left behind and everyone had time to digest what was going on. Great sense of humor and great relaxed atmosphere. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Gives study guides for each exam that are pretty much EXACTLY like the exams with different numbers. Although attendance is not required, I definitely recommend it if you are not the best at math and want to do well in the class. All homework is done online via MathXL and is not due until the day of each exam. Also, you have unlimited chances to complete each problem. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
This professor is one of my favorite professors I have had at KSU. He has a long history in mathematics and engineering and will know what is going to cause students problems. He has unique mneonic devises and songs that help you with certain rules and will take the time to thoroughly answer a question via EMail or after class. He teaches REAL MATH--and tests on REAL MATH---just to be sure you understand and can learn to apply what he is teaching. He does a wonderful job of challenging his students and helping them become better at math! If you are a math major and are looking to become proficient in Calculus, take Calc I with Prof. K. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
He is a great teacher, and knows the subject very well. He will seem very strict at first but as everyone gets used to his policies he lightens up. Some things are just hard to comprehend for some people though because it is Calculus, however Dr. K has come up with some pretty creative ways to help you remember. If you take the 1190 course you can look forward to hearing all about the theory of monkeys and donkeys, the boomerang theory, and the ka-boom theory. Yes they sound bizarre but the fact is if you pay attention you wont forget them. Also, don't be scared to take this course if you are not so good in math, the test are very hard but multiple choice and normally curved. Plus you get ample opportunities to get extra credit points to keep your grade up. If you show up, try the homework, and stay engaged in the class you will learn the material. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
She is a really nice professor. Make sure you do the homework because she asks if anyone has questions about it before doing the next section. Defintely do the reviews for each test because some of the questions are directly from the review. I did really well and I am not good at math. I recommend her. She enjoys what she does! |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Turner is awesome!! She has a great attitude and is an excellent teacher. I enjoyed attending this class. Just be sure to do your homework so that you may ask questions about it in class. (She will NOT make you feel stupid for asking questions or not understanding.) Make sure to study for the exams! Good luck! |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
I really enjoyed her class. Math is not that hard for me, but I got an 80% in Trig in High School. In Precalc though, the Trig stuff was at the very end of the semester and she made it very easy, she taught the trig without even using the Unit Circle. I would recommend her because she goes over all the homework questions in class and works with you right there to see how you did it, and then the correct way to do it. She explains everything so that it's easy to follow. I'd definitely take her again in the future. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
This is by far the greatest math professor I have ever had. She really challenges you to think in mathematical terms, come up with your own solutions, and directs you to the write way of thinking when working the problems. She cares for her students and is very passionate about the material. Its rare if she is in a fowl mood. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Prof Castle was great. She explained the material well and loved what she was doing. She's also excellent at answering any questions you may have. Homework everyday, but it's math so you need to practice. She gives quizzes once a week, about 2-4 problems. All of which were either in the homework or used as an example. 1 or 2 of your lowest quizzes are dropped. Tests were fair and easy if you did the material. Reasonable bonus questions on the test to boost your grade some. Class was not mandatory but helped a lot because of the amount of notes she gave, all of which were on the board. But I enjoyed going to class, studied, i did the homework, so i made A's on most of the quizzes and test. I highly recommend this teacher. |
||

MATH 1190 Calculus I
She knew her stuff and WANTED you to succeed. Would move a little fast at times. Sometimes was rude if you asked a question… MUST have strong algebra to succeed, especially for the last chapter. Teaches clearly and really helps you understand. Took AP Calc in high school and usually made 70s on the tests- taking again in college and I got a 105 on the first test and a 100 on the second. Takes attendance. DO THE HOMEWORK. It helps + it is collected for 50% of your grade. |

Dr. Ji is a GREAT math teacher, he wants his students to succeed and become something great in life. His door is always open for help, and he expects you to go see him when you're having trouble. His by far the best math teacher i've had at Kennesaw. He gives a lot of homework, but do the homework, and you'll get an A in the class. His tests are based on homework. He is also very funny. |

MATH 1190 Calculus I
Dr. Lewin is hands down the best (and hardest working) professor I have had at KSU. He gives you opportunity after opportunity to succeed in his class. Not only do you get the ACTUAL lecture from class on video and detailed lecture notes, but he also has a computer program (VCT) that reinforces all the material. He tells you exactly what you have to do in order to be successful in his class. In addition, he gives out previews to his exams that basically map out exactly what the exam will look like. Anytime I e-mailed Dr. Lewin, I literally got a response back in minutes. The people that wrote negative reviews probably had issues in his class because he does not treat you like a child. He tells you exactly what he expects and what it takes to be successful and it's your choice, as an adult, as to how you proceed. I highly recommend Dr. Lewin for math students that really want to learn and be prepared for higher math! |

he's a great teacher but this is not a class for an easy grade in calc. i struggled to get a B and was failing most of the semester. his practice test are just like the real test. the quizzes will help you sink or swim so study for all of them even the open notes ones. don't expect him to give you much help bc he can't really dumb it down well. required my math lab , do all of them evne though they're time consuming will hlep your grade in the end. I believe there were four test total. Homework was given but not graded. I'd recommend doing the homework to understand the material. You can drop your lowest test grade. I'm horrible at math and came out of the class with a C, though I could've easily had a B if I would've studied for the last exam (was burned out). He loves math and he's an interesting teacher for Calculus (though I hate Calc). |
