He is such a great teacher. I wish I could take him for all of my math classes. He is available to help you whenever he can be. I strongly recommend taking him for math. You won't regret it. You do have homework and quizzes so there is work involved, but if you put forth the effort it is worth it. He has quizzes once a week, 3 exams plus the final exam. Some people have posted he has an accent, but it's very little. I could understand him just fine all the time. He doesn't take attendance, but I wouldn't miss any classes because you will fall behind quickly. |

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Abdol is a very nice, professional and patient instructor. He will help any student personally during office hours or by e-mail. There are daily quizes consisting of 2-3 questions, 4 tests, including the final exam. If you correct any of the first three tests, you can get an additional 5 points back. Abdol doesn't review or grade homework. He teaches by the book. Overall, Abdol is a very pleasant, non-confrontational instructor, that is full of knowledge that the student has to tap into. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
The tests can be given in the testing center, so you can take as much or as little time to take them as you need or in class. He's very flexible about that and usually takes a class vote on where you'd like to take them. He doesn't look at or grade homework, but it helps to do it. He doesn't do or require you to do any of the problems that involve a graphing calculator because he feels that if it's not going to be on the test then you shouldn't have to do the homework on it. His quizzes are over the material covered in the previous class and are only 3 or 4 questions long. He doesn't do attendance, but it's helpful to attend if you want to do well on his tests, which are usually less than 20 problems long. He allows you to use the formula sheet for tests given in class. |

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Dr. K knows his stuff! His class is a little fast paced but will always make sure he answers every question. If you don't understand something, ask. He wants you to understand. He also has a great sense of humor and uses it in class! That is rare in a math class and makes it a little more enjoyable. His tests are fair, the aren't EASY, but he doesn't put any surprises on them either. As long as you are doing your homework and understand what he goes over in class, you're fine. He had a total of 4 tests, the final being over only the last two chapters we did in the class. He did not to a comprehensive final - THANK GOODNESS!!! There were no quizes and all homework needed to be turned in the day of the tests. I did have to get a tutor to help me, but most of that was do to what was being covered -- COLLEGE ALGEBRA! I'm NOT a math person but was able to get a B in his class. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
He is a great teacher. I took MATH 1342 with him. His tests were fair. Even I didn't like that course, but he made it easier for me to learn. If you do all your homeworks, it'll be a piece of cake to get an A. We had a review for each test, and 24 extra credit quizes( 1 point per one.) I highgly recommend him. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Professor Kamalvand is a very good math teacher. He is able to lighten the mood with a joke here and there, while still being able to clearly teach the class the concepts needed for his tests. He does go by the book, which wasn't too hard to follow, since most of the concepts he goes over per section, are boxed in the book. His handwriting is legible and easy to read (at least for a math professor). Make sure to ask questions on the homework, usually somebody else will have the same or a similar question, but won't ask. Plus he likes making sure you know the material. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Dr Kamalvand is the BEST Math teacher one could ask for! He has a sense of humor and is very knowledgeable. The most important part of all is that he is fair, you can tell when a professor has experience teaching the topic, because he is not trying to punish you for taking his class, rather he tries to pass along the knowledge so that you can use it in successive classes. I took him for College Algebra and I rushed to sign up for his Pre-Calculus class. If you do the homework (easy 20 percent of the grade) and study, you are guaranteed a 4.0 in his class. Just do the reviews that he gives out a couple of days before the exam and if you can do all the questions without problems, you will breeze through the exam. (The reviews are actually harder than the actual exam!) Anyway if he was teaching Calculus I or II, I would sign up for his classes. |

MATH 1314 College Algebra
This professor knows his subject and can flat out teach it. I won't lie to you; this class (MATH 1314) was a great deal of work. After it, I do feel more than prepared for the next math course. If you too are going to have to take more math courses after this one, Professor McGarry is the one to take. He gives (mostly) daily quizzes to keep you on track with the material. There is optional homework for extra credit, which I highly recommend doing. His tests come straight from the quizzes, so if you know that material, you'll do fine on the tests. During the semester, I emailed him a few times and always received a response back within two hours. He is very helpful during office hours as well. Don't be scared by some of the other reviews. McGarry is a great professor and I would take him again for any class. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
I dont know about other people but when i took my class with him he turned out a pretty good profesor. He explains very well, not the kind that thinks you're stupid if you ask them a question. I found his test covering reasonably everything he lectured in class. The only hassle is that i had to do endless math homeworks for him. He insists that it's the way you learn, by practicing, which is very true, but it's just incredible the amount of work you had to do. In overall i felt that the course fulfilled my expetations and a little more for college algebra, and mr. mcgarry, beside being a nice guy is also a good teacher. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Professor McGarry is the smartest math mind I have ever met. He has a genuine passion for the subject, and if you pay attention you can capture the information he is trying to convey. He is more than happy to assist his students during his office hours and practically gives you the tests in advance. If you do the extra credit homework, ask questions on what you do not understand and come to class (every time) you will be in good shape. He is definitely willing to sit down and take the time to help you understand if you are.Note: if you are simply looking to blow through the credit and do not care much to learn the information, make it easy on yourself and select a different professor. |

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Marissa always seems to be happy, and excited about math. She encourages her students to advance to further math courses. She will write out formulas in words then give the equations. She gives examples, and is always open to questions. She assigns a lot of HW, but does not collect it. Instead she gives HW quizzes. These quizzes comprise of 4 randomly selected problems from the HW unit. You will be able to use your HW during these quizzes (assuming you did it), so quizzes shouldnu2019t be difficult. There are 4 Mid Term Exams and a comprehensive Final Exam. She gives students the opportunity to make corrects on each Mid Term Exam. If you accurately complete the corrections, she will give you 1/4 of the points you missed back. Before each test she will supply the students with exam preparation problemsu2014this was beneficial; occasionally a problem directly from the preparations was on the Exam. She does an amazing job maintaining your grade on ACCu2019s Blackboard, so you will always know where you stand. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
I would not recommend this teacher. She is reluctant to help and hardly ever found time to assist with homework questions. She gives reviews from problems from the text and tells you the test will be very similar, not the case. Our class started out with about people and only ended up with about 9. The four people that sat next to me seemed to be struggling as well. On one test, the class average was a "D"... says a lot about her teaching. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Marisa is an excellent teacher. She is always happy and well prepared to teach. The course material is explained well and she goes through many examples on the white board. She is always open to answer any questions and available outside class in her office or the learning lab. There is quite a bit of homework, but after all this is a math course so it should be expected. She gives a 4 question quiz on the first class meeting of the week covering homework. Homework is not collected but can be used during quiz. Also, quiz problems are straight from homework or very similar so do your homework. Four exams are required with an optional comprehensive to replace a lower exam grade. She always gives extra problems to prepare for exams. If you take notes, do your homework, and study for exams you will have no problem passing course. I was able to get a A by doing just that. I highly recommend Marisa Seene and look forward to taking a higher math course from her in the future. |

Courteous, professional, helpful, thorough, understanding...I can't say enough good things about her. She lets you know what you need and what you don't. Easy to talk to, and easy to understand. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
This professor is excellent! I had her for College Algebra and it was great. She will not cut you any slack you have to pay attention and do the homework and the quizzes, which are take home. If, you have to take this class then you probably placed low on the COMPASS test so you should do your homework. I'll put it simply, if you don’t do the work you will NOT pass her class. She collects the homework with the Quizzes so if you aren’t doing them she will know. She is very good at teaching this subject matter and is extremely helpful! Grade A professor. Highly recommended! |

I have loathed, feared and dreaded math since the 7th grade... So needless to say after just returning to school with no algebra since my sophomore year of HS - nearly a decade ago - I was *NOT* looking forward to this semester... Much to my surprise, it turned out to be my favorite class. (Okay, tied for first; but the fact that it was even in the race with cellular & molecular biology on the schedule speaks volumes. Die hard science geek here.) Professor Bickham has somehow managed to undo practically a lifetime of math hatred in the span of a semester. Absolutely AMAZING. He teaches intuitively rather than the 'memorize-formulas' method which is great for me because I'm awful at memorizing; I have to understand how and why things actually work or I'm lost. Plus he's young and hilarious, which totally helps. Rather than dreading going to class, I ended up looking forward to it. |

MATH 1314 College AlgebraHomework is light for a math course. ACC attendance policy is set by ACC. You can only miss a couple of classes.-Going to class regularly will make the class much easier especially is you intend to take more math courses.Exams are short- around 25 problems -exams cover the homework sections so if you have done the homework then you will have seen all of the problem types that can be on the test (no surprises)-the questions on the exam determin if you can solve a problem in the way taught in class - there are no trick questions that have no relevance to wether or not you have learned algebra. Trick questions serve no purpose in learning.-I felt the test were fair and I felt prepared for them--a review is provided for each test Lectures- covers the concepts with many examples and follows up with worked problems from the book to use as a referrence while doing homeworkPersonality- humorous, easy-goingClass atmosphere- generaly light hearted and even fun Good Experience All Around - will be taking another class next semester from this professor. RECOMMENDED Try not to think of the class as something to fear or something to hopefully survive. Just take math slowly and consistently- use you available resources such as the instructor and/or the learning lab. I avoided Math for a few years until finally facing it and starting from the bottom with Basic Math Skills. I almost let my fear and negative association with math keep me from what I really wanted to do with my life. |

MATH 1314 College Algebra
I have taken Mr. F 2 semesters once for Intermediate Algebra and then again for College Algebra. I found his humor hilariously dry...always about math jokes! If he wasn't a great teacher I wouldn;t have taken him for 2 semesters now would I have? As long as you don't miss class (attendance based on department policies) and do you homework, you will do just fine! He is pretty leinant about homework as long as you do it, it almost doesnt matter when you turn it in. The test are mostly based on what you learn in class and from your homework. For Intermediate algebra we didn;t have any reviews for the test but I guess from the reviews from that semester he decided to have reviews for the College Algebra classes. I am very appreciative for learning everything I could from him....he has some good shortcuts to getting ur answers! Our class was very fun, we all got along and he knew every single one of us...those who showed up to class anyways. Tests are given at the testing center, btw! He only does the final in class...so make sure you leave ample time to take your tests outside of class hours... |

He really puts your money's worth. He teaches clearly by giving lots of examples. If you don't get something he will make up a problems until you get it. He's funny and an outgoing guy, so the class doesn't feel heavy and like it goes by slow. His test are easy! He gives out a review which if you do it and understand it, you will make an A on the test. He omits two questions. So you can either do the whole test and get extra credit or you can leave out two problems that you didn't get or don't understand. I highly recommend him. He's not just an easy A. Some teachers are easy A's but you usually don't learn much but a thing or two, Professor Thomason is really professional and will teach you a whole lot. If it wasn't because he gets filled up fast I would definitely take him again! |

Oh Bob... he really tries! His goal is to get the students to UNDERSTAND statistics and not just punch numbers. So if you already have an interest in stat, take him! He is one of the most approachable and caring professors I've ever known. He really loves it when the class gets involved and asks questions. LOVES IT! Do not be afraid to ask questions! He will go over the entire hw assignment if you want him to, as well as the tests. He gave 5 tests, reasonably well spaced. Is willing to tweak the sched. for tests if the class is a little behind. Tests are taken in the Testing Center and have no time limit. You can also take in an entire sheet of paper full of notes for the test. And if there is an unfair or misleading question on the test he will curve the grades. But do not expect an easy A and learn the vocab. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
He really tries soooo hard to get you a decent grade, but you have to meet him halfway. I took him last semester for college math and he did a great job on me. I am one of those who cries at math...one day before a test he actually met me at the school for a study session with just him and 2 students. He is one of the rare ones who actually cares that you get it. |

A very intellegent and mindful professor. For someone to complain about her is retarded! She breaks down the material barney style. I love that there is little homework. It is up to you to do extra hmwk. I think that for someone to complain about that is gay. For real life applications give me a break go join a tree hugging colony. School is here to challange you, and weed out people who want to deal with it. Your real life application comes when you get your first job. I highly recomend Mrs. Hord. |
||

MATH 1314 College Algebra
Ms. Hord is awesome. Most tests were taken in the testing center which allows you to test at your own pace. She gives a lot of take home quizzes which are just problems out of your homeowrk assignments. There are usually 3-4 problems on each quiz. She also gives out take-home extra credit assignments. I found these to be difficult but she will go over the problem in class if you ask her to. There were 5 tests total. The final test is just over the most recently taught information. And she is just so nice. I recommend her highly to anyone taking this course. |

I don't know how she could have made the class any easier. The material is not always intuitive and can be confusing and her definitions did not always remedy that. However, she always gave good examples that usually cleared up the confusion for everyone in class. Take home quizzes with 3-5 dropped and 1 week to complete them. 4 tests and 1 comprehensive final over the last 2 class days. I personally loved going to her class even though it was for college algebra. There is a lot of studying involved and her exams can be hard if you don't study. If you get an A in her course, it's because you earned it. She'll have four exams including the final. The final can replace your lowest grade which really was helpful to me. It also doesn't hurt that she's good looking (if that helps factor into your decision.) |

I took Business Calculus I with Mary. I see where she has gotten a lot of negative comments, but I had a good experience in this class. Her expectation are high and the material is not easy. Here's what you can expect.1) She is very enthusiastic and energetic. She seems to enjoy the subject.2) Attendance is required. You will miss out on points if you don't come to class.3) She expects participation. If you want to just sit in the back and sleep, this isn't the teacher for you.4) She does a bunch of group activities to encourage students to help each understand the material. I think this is good. It helps develop a support base outside of class. Some of us ended up studying together outside of class.5) You have to do the homework. It is part of the grade and if you don't practice, you'll bomb on the tests. The beginning of each class is spent with students writing any problems they are struggling with on the board. You can go up and solve one for extra points or she will solve them if there are no volunteers. 6) She does a pretty good job of answering questions. A word of warning though, this class assumes you have mastered the major stuff from college algebra. You will get thrown right into calculus and if you don't know the underlying algebra, you are not going to be successful and that's not the calculus prof's fault.7) She is available for office hours and will gladly help you. She doesn't hand-hold though. You have to be willing to put in the effort. This is college after all.8) She is more than fair in her grading of homework and tests. Very generous with partial credit. Make an effort and you will be rewarded even if you don't get the right answer. She does not grade on a curve! |
