ECON 4020 Econometrics

Dr. Benedict is my favorite economics professor. 95% of the class time is relevant to exams or homework. Attendance is not mandatory, but is highly recommended. If you miss more than one day consecutively, it may be difficult to catch back up without attending her office hours. This is my third econ class with her, every class has followed the same basic format; handouts which she uses as her primary teaching tool (she gives you a basic detail of what you will go over that day and you fill it in and take notes as the class goes on), examples from economic literature (we used book excerpts from Freakanomics in an earlier class), group projects, and examples from her own research. Homework is given sparingly throughout the term. There are approximately three exams plus a comprehensive final. Do not fear, if you take good notes you will do well, Dr. B is a very fair (easy?) grader.

ECON 422H Labor Relations Pol

I had her for two clases last semester and she was one of my best teachers. One class was econ 304, its a tough class and if you struggled through calc or stats, you better study hard to do well. However, she is an easy grader and if you honestly try and come to class (she takes attendance) you should do find. There is one midterm and a final (all problems) and several homework papers (only 2-3 pages). Also had her for econ 422, which was an interesting class, but discussion based with lots of writting. However, most all of the class got A's and B's, so if you're willing to put effort, you'll almost guaranteed to get a good grade. She is a nice, easygoing teacher, who really does care about students. And she has a good sence of humor.
