PSYC 1300 Effective Learning--Strategies for College Success
Pros
Profeesor Baldwin is not only an awesome teacher but also a great student advisor! Her teaching style is telling her students what she wants them to learn and then testing them on what she told them. She is clear and concise about what she want you to know and a huge advacate to student success and self-esteem. If you feel like you need some advising she is the one to turn to on the 2nd floor. Although she claims that she just pretends to like people, she is genuine and kind to any well intentioned student. It's true that you are probably one of the biggest slackers in the world if you can't pass her class. All you have to do is take word for word notes off of a powerpoint and listen to some insightful stories and examples that help you remember the content. However, I suggest that you befriend someone in your class that types the notes because Megan isn't really into baby-ing you if you miss class. As well as learning what is essential to psychology, I think my mental health has gotten better just by taking this class. Her sense of humor and ease she has about talking about some pretty hard "life" things really gives you the sense that there is nothing wrong with you. Definitely, take this class with your difficult classes so will have time to study for those, while still making an A in this class for being a decent humanbeing.
Cons
Don't miss any days because she doesn't post the notes on blackboard. If you plan on missing for some reason,1) smile at someone who either types or has good handwriting in order to give the impression that you are nice 2) ask that someone their name in a kind manner and 3) politely ask them to send you the notes. Don't go to Professor Baldwin and tell her you missed class! She doesn't deserve your pity party. Also don't show up for class late or act stupid about missing the exam, that is just rude.
PSYC 2301 Introduction to Psychology
Pros
She is very straight foward.. show up to class and take the notes and do all her extra credit assignments and youll make an A. If you dont show up to class on the days she gives a review for test find a buddy because most people record her review and everything she goes over is on test . Study for an hour or so and you will make an A. She is very entertaining...and very blunt if you are sensitive person you might be affended by some of the things she says. But overall she is a great teacher i would highly recommend her. You dont need a book. Bring her a diet coke:)
