M 328K Introduction To Number Theory
Pros
He tells funny stories sometimes....but other than that he is very very dull. However there is a gigantic curve
Cons
The tests were pretty tough. There were three of them and a final at the end of the semester. The average on the 3rd test was around 50%.....he acted like we should have done better, but the lectures he gives are so useless because everything he says is in the book. I made 60s on the first two tests, 50something on the 3rd test, and bombed the final but somehow ended up with a B.
M 427L Adv Calculus For Applicatns II
Pros
If you want a professor who will challenge you to work hard, study, and actually learn the material, then this is the right professor. Goddard is absolutely hilarious, and is always telling funny stories in class that make the course entertaining. He really has a knack for teaching, and makes sure that you learn the material well. Really personable guy, and although he always says stuff like "don't come to office hours, I don't want to be bothered" he really is quite willing to help if you want it, just don't be intimidated. If you don't want to try and just want to skate by, don't take his class. Quizzes every week make sure you're keeping up with the material. He has homework through quest, but it doesn't really help much. Honestly the best way to learn the material is to do the extra, optional problems he assigns (and there really is no shortage here).
Cons
On quizzes, he'll do 2 versions, and doesn't do a good job making sure that they're of comparable difficulty--the same goes for his tests too, but not to the same extent. Oh and make sure you keep your 408D textbook for this course--he didn't tell us until the 1st day of class, and quite a few kids had already sold theirs.
